The Chinese company Vivo has launched its latest model with a slightly lower positioning, the new Vivo V17. Just like its sibling, this phone is intended primarily for photography fans and uses its camera hardware and software as its central USPs. Vivo will have to practice its brand power and offline reach to compete with online-first value titans such as Xiaomi and Realme. Here is everything about Vivo V17.

The Vivo V17 can be a great phone to start with if you are interested in buying a new smartphone for your younger siblings. It is available in the market at price of $325.

Everything about Vivo V17

The Vivo V17 is a slightly tall phone, with a 6.44-inch 1080×2400-pixel full-HD+ 20:9 Super AMOLED display that takes up pretty much the whole front of the device. The jaw is comparatively thin, but most people’s attention will be brought to the front camera installed within the screen. This is what’s known as a “hole-punch” design, in the top-right corner.

Everything about Vivo V17

The camera hole is much tinier and less disorderly than what we’ve seen on other phones that have attempted the same design. There’s virtually no corner of the stagnant area around the camera, and there’s loads of content obvious around it. Though, there’s a silver ring around the lens itself, which is pensive and catches the eye when the phone tilt even slightly, which we noticed very compelling. Vivo has also implemented a screen protector onto the V17, and this also has a pattern around the camera which draws the attention there continually.

A complete review of Vivo V17

We have tested the Glacier Ice version of this phone, which is the now-common bright white finish that we’ve seen from various companies in the mid-range and premium spaces. You’ll see light twists of color as you move this phone in any direction. The white back is balanced perfectly by a matte metallic ring. There will also be a darker Midnight Ocean option available.

Talking about the phone’s appearance, the Vivo V17 is reasonably sleek. It doesn’t feel very superior though. Many other models in this price range use glass and metal and seem more reliable than the plastic Vivo V17. We should also mention that Vivo has released this phone in some other countries with a considerably different configuration for the camera module at the rear and a camera groove instead of a hole in the front, so don’t rely on photos and articles you might see online already.

Vivo V17 specs

Vivo has equipped the V17 with a prime 48-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture. Next, there’s a 120-degree wide-angle 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture, accompanied by a 2-megapixel depth sensor (referred to by Vivo as a “bokeh camera”), and subsequently a 2-megapixel macro camera. We’ve noticed much related arrangements on various recent low-cost phones. The single front camera has a 32-megapixel resolution and f/2.45 aperture.

Everything about Vivo V17

Beside the cameras, the V17 features the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor. Our unit has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s a 4500mAh battery and support for quick charging, with an 18W charger included in the box. Vivo also claims that its new-generation in-display fingerprint sensor is faster and more reliable than before.

Vivo V17 review

Apparently, it seems that Vivo has done a great job here with design and has adopted features and specs that a lot of other companies are also developing right now. Though the Vivo V17 goes up against the well-established opposition, and you can get related hardware and cameras for much less money. Many models offer near-flagship-class hardware at this price range in the market.
